Potcake Souvenirs

newsandinfo  There are many souvenirs one might take back with them after a visit to a beautiful Caribbean island but who would have thought a dog would be one of them!

More and more concerned tourists, recognizing the stray dog issues that plague several Caribbean nations, are taking home potcakes.

Potcakes – the name developed because locals give them the caked remains in the bottom of the pot to eat – are medium sized, multi-mixed breed dogs. They are hardy, smart, friendly survivors and they make great house pets.

Airlift programs are popping up to help relocate dogs to homes in the US and Canada. The Grand Bahama Humane Society is also very involved in assisting tourists adopt a potcake pup.
